Intertek faced a major global challenge: how to deliver consistent, high-quality and fast inspections for the 400 leading energy operators and service providers around the world, across 88 countries, operating 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Their existing approach — paper forms, email communication and fragmented workflows — slowed inspections and increased the risk of errors. A single mistake, such as using the wrong drawing or test plan, could invalidate an inspection and cost millions.

Intertek needed an inspection platform that could scale globally, deliver the correct job packs, diagrams and drawings, ensure full traceability and support both online and offline operations within a demanding energy services environment.

Solutions

Using the TAAP platform, Intertek configured a bespoke digital inspection system called EReporting Pro. The solution was created by configuring TAAP to meet Intertek’s exact functional requirements.

With TAAP, paper was eliminated. Inspectors could capture gigabytes of photos offline, and the system uploaded data seamlessly in the background while they continued working. Electronic scheduling delivered accurate digital job packs containing inspection test plans, diagrams and drawings, ensuring accuracy, consistency and full traceability throughout the process.
 
The platform has been live for over a decade and is managed by just two domain specialists who oversee more than 15,000 inspectors worldwide across 8,000 inspection types. Because the TAAP platform is maintenance-free, Intertek was able to redirect IT budgets from system upkeep to innovation, introducing new services such as private video conferencing, crypto-secure data vaults and real-time analytics.

In 2009, Intertek faced a global challenge.

How to deliver quality, consistency, and speed of inspections for the 400 leading energy operators and service providers, in 88 countries, around the clock, every day of the year.
